Amazon Baby Essentials

lizzywolfley

Items you’ll actually need and be happy you bought! No unnecessary fluff here (at least in my opinion)! I’m pretty minimalist and cheap so while there are fun Disney baby items on here you’ll also find items at the lowest cost for the highest quality.

Baby Essentials

Check out the full list on Amazon HERE! Individual items shared and linked below!

  1. Ingenuity Pack and Play - So we used this as my oldest sons crib and bassinet for the first 8 months of his life! It was perfect for our one bedroom apartment during that time. This one is great because it works as a bassinet and changing table for the first few months or for traveling. Then it has the elevated mat so when your baby out grows the bassinet but is still too small to be lowered to the bottom, you can easily reach them. LOVE it!!

  2. Diaper Bag - BUDGET FRIENDLY! Keep in mind this is a huge diaper bag. Like it can hold a lot which is nice but sometimes it feels very bulky. Super great for Disneyland, vacations, long days and even every day. There’s 6 zippered pockets from the outside and 5 insulated pockets for bottles or food. It also washes easy in the washing machine (on cold and air dry). I really like that I can easily fit all my stuff and baby's stuff in it.

  3. Disney Diaper Bag - More of a splurge item but super cute, functional and well designed! The diaper bag is something you'll be using every day, every outing, and taking it every where so I feel like this is something to splurge on or get the one you really want! It's also something you will use for more than a year or two!

  4. Chicco Keyfit Car Seat - I have loved this Car Seat!! I love how easy it is to put in the car and take out of the car. I love that it’s easy to wash. And I love that it is affordable and high quality. I also love that there is an adapter piece for my stroller, so it works with my stroller too!

  5. Baby Jogger City Select Stroller - I know this is a higher priced item, but check out my advice at the bottom on how to save on items like this! I promise you won’t regret buying this stroller either. It grows with you and your family and can be adapted into a double and even triple stroller. And the big bottom carriage is amazing to have at Disney parks or adventure days! I also love how easy it is to fold and load into my car.

  6. Portable Swing - Honestly just nice to have a safe spot to set the baby down while you use the bathroom or clean. It also is entertaining for them so that’s good for their little developing minds.

  7. Baby Bouncer Seat - Just like the swing, another nice place to put the baby down. I always used it to put my son in while I pumped. (I exclusively pumped for 9 months but that’s a story for another day!)

  8. Owlet Smart Sock - There’s been some controversy over this product the last couple of months but it saved my sons life twice! I was also told by both his ENT and Cardiologist that it was the most accurate one on the market. Gave me peace of mind that he was still breathing too, especially in the those first days home from the NICU.

  9. Bumbo Chair - This is probably the one thing you could go without but it is a great tool for them to learn to sit on their own, but you should know that it is recommended not to leave them in there for more than 30 minutes at a time.

  10. Bottle Warmer - This bottle warmer is great because it’s not just a bottle warmer! It’s a sterilizer, food warmer and defroster too! So you can safely warm up frozen milk and sterilize your bottles all in one. (Most bottles are dishwasher safe too)

  11. 3 Tiered Rolling Cart - There are so many cute ways to utilize a 3 tiered rolling cart but I love having one for diaper changing items (the diaper caddy sits on the top tier perfectly!) and I also loved having one as a pumping station, I could roll it to where ever I was pumping and have everything I needed. I'll share in another post about cute ways to use one of these because they are a huge baby game changer!

  12. Dr. Browns Bottles - These are the bottles that will most likely come home with you from the hospital if your newborn needs one. There's a reason why hospitals love them, they are easy on babies tummy with their anti-colic vacuum function, they're easy to clean and the nipple sizes change so they can grow with baby as their feeding pace changes.

  13. Milk Snob Cover - Great for covering a sleeping baby in the car seat or for covering yourself while nursing! Plus they come in lots of cute prints, this Disney one is my favorite though!

  14. Burp Cloths - This is something you could easily make if you have extra cotton fabric lying around, but you'll want a lot of these! Think 8-10 per a day (at least that's how many we would go through a day). I liked these ones because of the organic fabric and cost for how many you get!

  15. Diaper Caddy - Love, love, love this diaper caddy! Makes it so easy to have everything you'll need in one place! In ours we keep all our diapers, wipes, diaper cream, lotion, aquaphor ointment, nose sale drops, nose frida, scissors, bum brush for wiping on the diaper cream, etc...and the best part is it's all organized in one place!

  16. Changing Pad - Feel like this is an obvious one...but I do love that it buckles across the chest, it comes in handy when they grow bigger and stronger!

  17. Diaper Rash Cream - I love this one but also get a natural one from Melaluca that I really love too!

  18. Baby Bum Brush - This is one of those items you didn't know you needed! It was something not on my registry the first time but was gifted to me from a friend and it is by far the most used gift we received! Love that I don't get my fingers gross when I need to apply diaper cream and it wipes clean easy. Just wipe the excess off on to the diaper before wrapping it around your baby!

  19. Waterproof Wet Bag - With a cute Mickey Mouse print! These are nice to keep in the diaper bag for when you're out and about. It's nice to have something to throw the dirty burp cloths, burp bibs, and any clothing that may have gotten soiled.

  20. Stroller Organizer - I love this one cuz it velcros easy on to your stroller but never falls off! It includes a cute detachable fanny pack or keep it on and use the zippered pocket. I love that it includes two water bottle holders and the middle pocket has a slot for your phone and another space that fits snacks/other items!

  21. Backseat Car Mirror - Something that will bring you peace as you drive around and entertain you little one! They have so much fun looking at themselves and it's so cute!

  22. Car Window Sun Shades - Living in AZ these are a MUST for us. The sun is too bright and too hot not to! I love that these roll up though so you can still roll down the windows if you need to without them falling off.

  23. Puj Tub - I loved this for the first 0-4 months because it sits in your bathroom sink and cleans/stores easy!

  24. Newborn Swaddle Velcro Blankets - These are so nice to have for when they are still tiny. Newborns don't have control of their hands or feet so they end up waking themselves up a lot by hitting their face. Swaddling helps keep them contained a bit better.

  25. Muslim Swaddle Blankets - A cute Disney swaddle option. I loved these muslim blankets cuz they stretch easy and nice as they grow older and are transitioning out of the sleep sacks/swaddles. The thin material makes it safer to leave in the crib with them.

  26. Halo Sleepsack Swaddle - I love that this zips up and has the velcro swaddle feature. Great for the baby that has grown out of the newborn swaddles but still likes to be swaddled.

  27. Halo Sleepsack - These are great for 6-24 months or however long they will fit in it! I love how convenient they are and how cozy they keep my baby while they sleep. Also makes it harder for them to learn how to climb out of the crib. ;)

  28. Sound Machine - Some parents don't like sound machines but there's a reason why they are so popular. It's because they work! And babies like consistency so when they hear the same sound every night they know what that means. I like this one because you can set it on a timer to stop during the night or have it running the whole time. It also is programmed with 20 different sounds.

  29. Boogie Saline Wipes - Nothing is worse than a sick baby, these wipes are nice to have on hand to wipe the boogies away while also cleaning their nasal cavities a bit with the saline solution on the wipes.

  30. Antibacterial Wet Wipes - I love these for travel, the store, Disney parks, regular parks, pretty much everywhere we go, haha! They're safe to use on babies hands and can clean anything else you need cleaned real quick.

  31. Digital Rectal Thermometer - If you're a first time mom, a rectal thermometer might sound weird or new to you. But it's the most accurate way to get their temperature and is honestly the easiest way too.

  32. Moby Wrap Baby Carrier - Perfect for those first 6 months to keep baby close but be able to be hands free. I used mine a lot while cooking or shopping, it's also super comforting for the baby because they love being close to their mama so often times my son would just nap while I wore him.

  33. Baby Carrier with Hip Seat - The hip seat is why I chose this one too, because it helps shift some of the weight off of your shoulders. This is a lifesaver while traveling! We got ours right before traveling to Florida with my family and I was so glad I had it. Made it much easier to get on the plane with my son, was nice for walking down to the beach, and we also loved it when we went on a family cruise! Strollers are a pain to walk around with on cruise ships so it was really nice having the baby carrier to take him with us places.

  34. Stroller/Car Seat Fan - If your car doesn't have ac in the back seat then this is something you'll really want for your little one! It wraps around easily to the handle and keeps them cool. We also loved it for walks, disney parks, for fun days out and basically used it every day in the summer. Just remember to charge it frequently. We also love this fan from Target too.

  35. To-go Wipes Dispenser - This may sound like a silly purchase but having a full pack of wipes in your diaper bag makes it super heavy. So being able to break it up into this smaller container is amazing! I also love this for long days with the stroller because you can use the strap to hook it around the stroller handle and then have easy access to your wipes all day!

  36. Clear Wipes Container - This one is another one of those that you didn't realize you needed until you have it! It's cheaper to buy the refill wipes packets instead of the wipes ready to use so it's also more cost effective over time! Worth putting on the registry and getting in my opinion!!

  37. Diaper Bag Organizing Bags - These are another one you could probably live without BUT there is endless uses for them and they will come in handy for more than you think! I love them for keeping things organized in my diaper bag. Like I use one as a small first aid kit with some infant acetaminophen incase he needs it while we are out. I use another one for snacks and another for miscellaneous small items I don't want getting lost at the bottom of the diaper bag. Then when we out grow the diaper bag one day...(don't know how many years away that will be for us haha) I can use them for travel or for my own bag!

  38. Postpartum Recovery Kit - Even with my c-section the items in this kit came in handy! So whether you have a planned c-section or are doing a vaginal birth, I recommend this kit!

  39. Disposable Postpartum Underwear - This is one of those weird items that you didn't know you'll need! The hospital should provide you with some to take home but they don't last long enough. Having a few extra on hand to at least get you through the week after delivery. You'll thank me later for it!

  40. Vitamin D Drops - If you are feeding your baby breastmilk than your Pediatrician will recommend you give them a dose of Vitamin D each day because it is the one vitamin not found in breastmilk and because you probably won't be taking your baby outside to sit in the sun every day.

  41. Gripe Water - This is nice to have on hand for when they get constipated or gasey, helps them to feel some relief.

  42. Liquid Probiotic - Also nice to have on hand to help them poop if they're constipated and helps their gut health too!

  43. Infant Acetaminophen - Obviously nice to keep on hand in case they spike a fever during the night, make sure to follow your doctors guidance on this one. This a dye free version of Tylenol that is much safer to use!

  44. Bath Robe - This is something that you'll be thankful for in the hospital! More comfortable than what they give you at the hospital and easier to nurse with it on too! You'll also love sleeping in it at night or wearing around the house too!

  45. Baby Video Monitor - So this isn't one that I currently have but it is one on my registry for this next baby boy! My general rule when making my registry is if it's not something I could afford to buy myself (remember there is a registry discount you get with Amazon for items left on your list) than it's not something I would add. I really liked the reviews on this one and I liked that it doesn't connect to wifi. If that is something you are interested in looking at getting, then I recommend you do your research first! This last year a lot of parents have come out with stories of people hacking into their wifi video monitors and talking to their children through the camera. Super scary and sketchy stuff in my opinion!

Items Specific to Nursing/Breastfeeding/Exclusively Pumping

  1. Washable Nursing Pads - So you can also get the disposable version of these but I like finding more cost effective options and this was one of them. I love that it includes a little bag to carry them in and a wash bag!

  2. Nursing Bras - Just another one of those things you didn't think you would need but you will! Love these ones and that they still give my girls some support but are comfortable and make it easy to unsnap to nurse or pump.

  3. Boppy Nursing Pillow - there's lot of different nursing pillows out there now but I really loved the boppy! It's great because you can also use it to help teach your baby to sit up! I also love that there's so many different patterns for cases out there, and they clean super easy too because they are machine washable!!

  4. Hands Free Pumping Bra - Another life saver that you didn't know you needed! Great for nursing and pumping or doing both at the same time! Yes - it's possible haha!

  5. Breast Therapy Packs - These are AMAZING! Seriously if you get nothing else on this list, get these! Can be used as a hot pack or cold pack, great for breast engorgement, increasing milk supply, and for soothing mastitis.

  6. Lactation Massager - Great for so many reasons! Helps increase milk flow, helps break up clogged milk ducts, and also great for mastitis.

  7. Haakaa Manual Breast Pump - Love this for catching extra breast milk from the side that isn't nursing. You can pop it on the breast that the baby isn't nursing from to catch some bonus milk for later. Helps keep you producing and it's nice to have on hand for when you start trying to bottle feed.

  8. Milk Snob Cover - Great for covering up while nursing baby in public if you feel like you need to! It IS legal in ALL 50 states to breast feed your baby in public without covering up. But some women like to be covered, I did! I also used mine a lot for pumping at my parents house or in-laws so that I could still be around everyone else and not hiding in a room.

  9. Bottle Cooler - This ended up being a huge lifesaver for when my son was in the NICU to transport breast milk to him each day. It was also used a lot because he was bottle fed breast milk so anytime we left the house we had to make sure the breast milk would stay cold in the cooler to keep it from going bad. I love this one because you can easily fit 3-4 bottles in it and it comes with a gel ice pack!

  10. Nursing Tops - These are great for easy nursing/pumping. I also loved my Henley shirts too for nursing/pumping because they unbutton to the right spot and are a little more cute than a regular nursing top is (in my opinion!).

  11. Check out my Breastfeeding and Exclusively Pumping Amazon List HERE

This is everything I think is an essential item to have and to put on your baby registry! You might have noticed I didn't include any soaps or lotions. This is because a lot of the ones on the market and in stores contain dangerous chemicals for our babies new skin. So we exclusively use soap, lotion, toothpaste and diaper cream from Melaluca, but if you're looking for one on the market the most clean one out there is Hello Bello or Honest. This is something I recommend you do your own research on though!

Budget Friendly Tips:

Tip #1: Make your registry or your list of must have items and then watch Facebook Marketplace everyday for those items or for items you’re willing to get second hand. 90% of the time people selling those items on Facebook just want them out of their house so you can bargain for it and get a much better deal than you would buying it new. We bought all our baby furniture (except the rocking chair, I wanted that new) on Facebook Marketplace for probably less than $100 total! This includes a dresser, changing table, and crib!

Tip #2: Reach out to any family and friends who might be done having kids and ask for hand me down clothes! Babies out grow things FAST and ruin clothes just as quick so instead of buying a whole wardrobe in every size. Use those hand me downs and buy a few things you really love. You’ll also be gifted a lot of clothes too!

Tip #3: While pregnant, buy one or two boxes of diapers a month in different sizes! Your future self will thank you when it’s 3am and you just ran out. It’s also nice not having to spend the money when you need them in the moment because there’s other things you’ll want to spend $30-$50 on (yes, that’s how much a box of diapers costs).

Thank you for checking out my Amazon Baby Essentials for the Disney Mom! I hope you liked it and I will be sharing my Target Baby Essentials soon! If there was something missing from my list that you think is a baby essential, then please comment below!
